Where do I find the wattage of my appliance?+
Check the rating label on the back or underside of the device, or its manual. Typical figures: LED TV 60 W, desktop PC 200 W, fridge 150 W (running), electric heater 2000 W.
What is a kWh?+
A kilowatt-hour is one kilowatt of power used for one hour. A 1000 W heater running for one hour consumes exactly 1 kWh, which is the unit your energy bill charges for.
Why is my real bill higher?+
Bills include standing charges, taxes and often different day and night tariffs. This calculator shows the pure consumption cost of one appliance.
